Personalizing a Dragon Punch
A Dragon Punch is usually a Special Move that serves as a reversal option that may or may not provide initial invulnerability that leaves the ground as the hitboxes come out leaving ample time for an intuitive whiff punish from the opponent even if they are a beginner. Shoryukens are a cornerstone of most fighting game characters with their absence often necessitating a footnote to warn players “lack of reversal/invincible reversal“.
With a move that is such a fundamental tool it isn’t a surprise that many characters in AAA and indie fighting games feature a Shoryuken of their own. It is disappointing that so many are simply generic leaping uppercuts when you can take that moment to express so much about your character.
How do they jump?
How do they actually attack the opponent during the move? [Physical: Hand, Head, Foot, Tail, Wing, etc. Weapon: Sword, Dagger, Axe, etc. Magic/Energy: Psychic, Fire, Darkness, Water, etc.]
Do they “spiral“ into the move so it’s not just a simple up & down movement?
